Photo Mondays: 2006 Yule Ball

From now on every Monday I'm going to post a picture (from the 10,000 I've got on my hard drive) of or about the Harry Potter phenomenon: today it's about wizard rock. We have Draco and the Malfoys and a looking-on Whomping Willow, backstage at the 2006 Yule Ball in Cambridge, MA. This was the second night I'd ever met the Malfoys, though the first we ever really talked, and the first time I'd ever met Matt. We both got bad impressions of each other from this night, which in retrospect is ludicrous, because we're close friends. Similarly this is one of those pictures where Brian's doing his "bad boy wizard rocker" face, and I'd soon come to learn what a big fat lie that is, because he ranks among the sweetest and most soft-spoken people I've ever met. (Sorry to ruin the myth for the three people who still believed it, Brian.)

Isn't it funny when that happens? I can't tell you the number of ppl I've met, especially in college days, who had a weird or even just a plain bad impression of me, and vice versa, but when we got to know each other better, we've been surprised at how close we became and have laughed about it years later. Those are some great stories to reflect on : )

Haha, i cant quite find a word to discribe that pix....but i love it anyway! i think that it is hilarious that you and matt did had false impressions of each other at fist. i do not know either of you on a personal level but from what i have seen and heard you are very close friends! Sorry this was not a very fufilling post. I am SOOOOO EXCITED FOR THE BOOK!
