If all the e-mails, Facebook messages, notes from Leaky readers, wall posts, comments here, and even text messages I'm receiving are accurate, Amazon.com has begun shipping the book. That's...elating, and terrifying. There are too many reports for this to be wrong, and it makes some sense; it's not an embargoed book - though it's very strange for Harry Potter fans to get a book early, we're just not used to it! Anyway, let me get out ahead of this to say: Thanks for pre-ordering, and I sincerely hope you enjoy it. I can't wait to hear what you think. Aikes!

Hi Melissa,
I just finished the book, and wanted to tell you how awesome it is and how much I appreciate you writing this.
I started on Hp pretty late, around the time book 6 came out, but then I started reading them to my sister, and that of course, changed everything. I soon became engrossed in the wonderful world that Jo created, how wonderfully all the rules held up together and how believable she made fantasy.
Thank you for showing me what the fandom looked like when I was not yet a part of it. Reading your book filled me in on details so I dont feel like a latecomer anymore.
I assure you that I shared many of your emotions and feelings in this amazing journey. It is an amazing book, and you surely deserve all the praise you get.
Cheers,
Sushovan

Got my book yesterday!!! Its awesome so far!!!

I reserved a copy at my local book store, because I like giving local businesses, well, business.

I'll be picking it up on election day, no worries.

Melissa.. sorry to hear that the book was released early... Amazon is usually a respectable site.

Just opened the box and scanned down the contents.

Can't wait to get started... what am I doing online?

Just got the book from Amazon.com...I am so excited to read it! :)

Just got the book from Amazon! I can't wait to start reading it. I might even take a break from LotR to read it!

I came home from work and my book is here! Thank you Amazon.com! I know what I'm doing this weekend!

Hey Melissa I preordered my copy through indigo in Canada do you know if they are shipping their copies?

Thanks
Sam

Dear Leaky Cauldron readers,

I have posted reviews on Amazon.com and bn.com. I hope you are as enthusiastic as I am about this book, and I STRONGLY urge you to post reviews on both sides, because this is when a good recommendation will make a significant difference in sales: between now and Christmas will be when most of the first printing will be going out the door, so I hope you share in my enthusiasm, pass the word on about this authorized, delightful, magical book, and do Melissa Anelli the kindness of sharing your good thoughts so that not only do prospective customers benefit but Melissa, as well.

I've got copies of virtually every book ever written about Rowling, Harry Potter, and the Harry Potter phenomenon, and this is truly an insider's guide to Harry Potter fandom, and as such deserves your support.

Melissa,

My copy of Harry, A History just arrived in the mail. After reading JKR's foreword, the compulsion to leave a comment here overwhelmed me! I already know I will love the book. That it will allow me to experience more deeply all of the events I viewed from afar through Leaky & Pottercast. I already owed you (and Sue, John & Frak) for that!

But what filled my heart was that this success of yours, so perfectly sweet in so many ways, and so well-deserved (overdoing it on the "so's", I know), is because of your commitment and unparalleled integrity to the the works of JK Rowling and the Harry Potter fandom.

It was Joseph Campbell who said, "Follow your Bliss", and it is true and it works because when we truly love something, our inspiration and dedication work together to create what is truly magical.

Congratulations, Melissa!

Teri

Melissa,

Thanks for this book. While I'm still in the middle of it, I sat in my company's cafeteria just now grinning like a fool remembering my own experience reading "Order of the Phoenix" for the first time and the midnight release party.

You've written a very thoughtful look into this phenomenon, and it truly is a phenomenon! I'm just really thankful that I got to be a part of it when it happened and this book was a perfect way to remember those times.

When I have some time, I'll make sure to post this as a five-star review on amazon.com too! Thanks again!

Some customers of Barnes & Noble and Amazon have posted up their reviews, and they are all maximum 5/5 ratings! I only read the last couple of sentences of each to get their summary (I dont want to know the details, I want to discover the delights my self!). Those of you have already read it, maybe go post up a review of it on the website you bought it from :)

But oh man, its now even harder for me to wait at least 2-3 more weeks for my copy in the UK. Well, I guess I have to keep reminding myself, its worth the wait. Damn it, I want it now...No, be patient...

I am so excited! I came home from a meeting this morning and there was my book! AH!! I came on here to confirm that this wasn't just happening to me!

Melissa, I got the book last night from Amazon pre-order and devoured it in one sitting. Congratulations on a wonderfully entertaining look into the Potterverse!

Really? Cool. Just ordered mine and it's estimated to get here in December haha. Hopefully HaH won't keep me from studying for my finals mwahaha.

STUPID crisis, this book would be muuuch cheaper to import if it wasn't for it. Melissa should definitely pay the White House a visit and kick he-who-must-not-be-named's ass ¬¬.

Mine was here when I got home about 9:00 PM. So I did what any Potter fan would do. I grabbed the book and headed to bed with it. I read up until the part where Melissa was offered an Editor position with Leaky. So far I'm really enjoying the emersion back into Harry's Pseudo world of publishers and fans.

I'd finish it this morning, but I have to got to work. That's OK, I'll finish it this evening. Who cares if I have company from England.

ordered mine today!!!
so excited!!!

I just listened to pottercast, and after hearing part two of the interview, I'm more excited than ever! I think i will be stalking a UPS truck tomorrow...

wow so stoked for the book.

Im glad to be a part of the Phenom!!! and Fandom!

Lisa

I'm done! It was fantastic! Much love and thanks to you Melissa!

I was upset yesterday because "where's my stuff" was saying I'd not get my copy before November 10th. But "yayz" I got an email notification that it's in transit and I'll have it in my mitts today! Squee!

i have to wait til it comes out in stores,
sucks but its gonna be worth the wait!

Ha! My lament began too soon! Email this morning reveals my book(s) have shipped!

OMT

Gack! Amazon is shipping already? Has it been seen in shops yet?

Mine's on its way, too! Can't wait to read it! :)

I haven't heard anything about this, is it only if you did it through Leaky? Oh well, I don't mind waiting, I'm sure it'll be awesome no matter when I get it!

I got my ship notice! It'll be here Friday. My weekend plans are scraped now! Squee!

Waiting for it to come out in the book stores over here, anyone able to post reviews thus far?

Congratulations, Melissa - now an official published author with the book arriving in peoples hands. As I don't want to be spoiled prior to Christmas - I know my husband, I won't see it until then *sigh* - I shall suspend reading comments until then, then I'll play catch-up. ;-)

Air kisses to you! Celebrate with lots of champagne!

Just ordered from books-a-million TODAY and it has been shipped! Can't wait!

I'm loving it! I checked my CPO box like 6 times this moring because I knew it was coming today. I'm almost halfway done...but should probably stop because I have a bio test soon...Anyway, I love it, its great!

My order says preparing to ship and can't be changed. I hope it's true we're getting them early!

My Amazon account shows a Nov 10 date... Sigh.
I'll just have to suffer the humiliation of listening to you all gloating. Oh the pain...

OMT

IT'S HERE! The book arrived today (Oct.22) and I am plowing into it with glee! Thanks for a great book, Melissa. Much eneded to slake my thrist for ANYTHING Potter!!

I pre-ordered in July and it's still telling me it won't arrive until November 10. Just a random occurrence I presume?

SO... mine says december 7 is when its shipping... wtf...

i hope this is a mistake and it ships early

but i cant wait XD

OMG I HAVE IT! I've read the foreword and first chapter and it's amazing thus far! Congrats Melissa!

MJ said....it's still showing that it will ship on November 4, 2008. I ordered it on March 29!! LOL!

*Wails*

I pre-ordered mine and when I checked "where's my stuff" it's listing a delivery date of Nov. 10th.

Well, am glad that some of us are getting the book earlier than expected and perhaps I will too in the end.

OK, who does one need to "butter up" at Amazon to get their book early?! I just went into my account at Amazon and it's still showing that it will ship on November 4, 2008. I ordered it on March 29!! LOL!

Well, congrats everyone who gets their copy early...and to Melissa, who is OFFICIALLY a published author with a readership and everything!

Congratulations Melissa, I'll be waiting patiently for it. Mine won't come until Nov 8th, I live in Ireland, but it ought to be a great read! Well Done!

I got the email last night! I am super excited. Congrats.

Amazon US are now saying
Usually ships within 1 to 4 months.
Maybe they have used up their pre-ordered stock.
Also Amazon UK now agree with Melissa about the UK publication date.

It's true I just received my Email this morning! I will have the book in my hands by 23 Oct.!!!!!
I'm THRILLED!!!!
I just finished a book and I can't wait to crack open yours and sit back and lose myself in Harry's world all over again!
