German Cover

Since it's now on the German Amazon, I suppose I can post this. What would Harry, A History look like in a big German hardcover, you ask? Why...this!

That's right. The title is DAS PHANOMEN HARRY POTTER, the all-capsness of which I love and will eternally insist on writing. ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME. I love this cover, though. It's very...in charge.

It will be out in Germany in May!

I can speak german! so ill buy it and the english version and let you know how it is!

HOLY FLOBBERWORM, how did I miss this behemoth of a cover?!? That's just epic. I really want that, just for the cover... oooh.... purty...

Hi Melissa !
I've read about your book many times lately, and I was wondering if it is going to come out in French (because I haven't seen any mention of that anywhere) and if it will be published in Switzerland. Could you please tell me ?
I really hope I'm finally able to read it since I've discovered the huge English-speaking fandom quite recently (although I've been in the French fandom for several years)and it would be a marvellous way for me to live the fandom vicariously !
(I hope my English was okay ^^)

"The Phenomenon Harry Potter" I love it! I am totally getting this book when I go to Germany! It Look great and now you have gotten me very excited to get this.

That is way cool Melissa! The cover looks epic, like the tale within.

I think I asked in a previous comments-thread, but I'll try again: Do you know who is publishing the book in Norway? I'm a book store woman, you see, and I'm just a little (or VERY) curious... (I don't think we're all Norwegian in here, though we seem to be a little over active in the comments at the moment...)

By the way, I totally second Brit!'s suggerstion that you volg a video of you reading a passage from the german edition. It would be amazingly funny!

Oh wow. It really is a History book haha.

It's so awesome that it's getting translated! I'm Norwegian and my jaw just fell to the floor when you said they were coming out with a Norwegian translation on PotterCast. It's gonna be so awesome! In my town I don't know any HP fans above the age of 12, but maybe the book coming out in Norwegian is going to change that. I hope so! I love your book! <3

Looks good (:
Just wondering... is there going to be a Dutch version?

Ah! This is so German and great! I will definitely be buying a German copy, I love the language. You deserve all the success in the world for your hard work Melissa! Enjoy Deutschland in May.

It's quite a moody cover, compared to the UK and American cover, don't you think?

Hehe, I just finished the original version last night, but I might buy the German one as well. Would be nice to own it as a hardcover.

Anyway, I'm so happy for you that this book is such a success. You deserve it after all those years where you fought for Harry Potter and didn't even dare to tell your collegues about it.

By the way, what's this "Vorwort"-fuss about? Somehow I fail to get the joke.

Melissa, you get the German version too, right? You should do a vlog of reading an excerpt from the German version! :D That would be epic. :)

this is such a cool cover! i kinda want to own a copy even though i wouldnt be able to understand it :)
The border is really engaging and cool, but sort of ominous at the same time. I like it! ;)
"vorwort von J.K Rowling" is actually the mot awesome sentence ever :D

Will there be a Spanish publication too??

Ach! Auf Deutch! Zehr Gut.

(I think I got it correctly)..

Congratulations Melissa.

OMT

Woohoo! Yay, German cover! I'm thinking about giving it to my dad, because I think he might be more motivated to read it in German, though is English is pretty good. I hope then he wont roll his eyes on me going to the UK or the states for Potterstuff that much anymore.
Will you come and promote it in Germany? That'd be fun :)

But, Melissa the title of your book in English is also all caps. So you have been all-capness all along and not known it!
I personally love the "vorwort von J.K Rowling", who wouldn't want to have written a vorwort.

But seriously, this is a great looking cover, very dramatic, like something scary is going to happen to those poor little glasses.

That's pretty groovy.

Although, technically, you'd want to write it "Phaenomen" if you don't want to put the umlaut above the "a."

Like how "Koenig" can also be written "König" and "Gruenewald" can be written "Grünewald."

That's a pretty ominous cover.... I wouldn't know what to expect if I saw that in a bookstore. Then again, if I saw that in a bookstore, I'd either be in Germany, or really confused!

Congrats, that is way cool, Melissa. The more people who get to read this book the better!

I got the US edition for Christmas - my favourite present. Thanks for your willingness to share personal things, for teaching me things I did not know and for making me laugh - and sometimes even cry.
I knew you were the right one to write about this!

Finally found your book in a bookstore here in Oslo, the UK edition - so ofcourse I had to buy it. I am therefore the proud owner of two copies.
One sits with my livingroom collection of HP books (the hardcovers) and the other with the paperback ones in my bedroom. (Got to be able to get to HP books easily when the spirit moves me you know.)

Hmm... I might have to get the German version of your book as well, relatives in Berlin can get it for me.

Vorwort looked a lot like Voldemort at first glance.. :)
